How do you get rid of rough patches of skin at edges of finger nails?

Ever since I took off my acrylic nails a couple months ago, the skin at the sides of my fingers have all been rough and constantly catching on fabrics and scratching me. They aren't hang nails, but in the area where you typically get them. I try to keep my cuticles pushed back and use lotion all the time. What else can I do to soften them up so they aren't catching and I'm not having to cut them all the time. How do you get rid of rough patches of skin at edges of finger nails?
soak hands in lemon juice with a little honey %26amp; warm water try to get the water as hot as possible but not to burn you hands.

soak hands for about 5 minutes, do this before you go to bed. Cover your hands in vaseline %26amp; wear some cotton cloves, this way the vaseline will not rub off. in the morning wash hands with a little moisturising hand wash %26amp; use a good hand cream silicone based. How do you get rid of rough patches of skin at edges of finger nails?
Soak your hands in warm water. You can put soap in the water if you want.

You could also go get a manicure and see what they do and then just do it your self.

I also believe ';Burt's Bee's'; has a product that softens the skin so you can remove it easily.

Good luck!!!
I would actually use a product like liquid bandage which is what bowlers use to cover blisters so they can heal and continue bowling.

That way your skin doesn't peel in layers as you are stating they catch on everything. Use it for a week (doesn't harm skin) then wash off remainder and put lotion on them again. You will see a difference and the skin should be soft again.
Avon has a very good product called ';Hand and Nail Cream';. It moisturizes hands, nails and surrounding area around the nails. It is very good. Apart from that, when you use hand cream, be specific in rubbing extra cream to the area around your nails.
