Both my middle finger nails broke, should I just clip them all?

I really don't want to, my nails looked so good before. But will it look too weird if I have long nails, and both my middle nails are short? Both my middle finger nails broke, should I just clip them all?
Cut them that way they'll grow equally. Both my middle finger nails broke, should I just clip them all?
If your nails are natural (which is the way to go because acrylics KILL your nail beds!) dont cut the rest of your nails!! just go to any drugstore and buy some extra strength nail growth and health nail poilsh! You can apply one layer to your regular nails to keep them strong and a little extra to your short ones so theyll be looking great in no time !;)
You should cut them, or it`s gonna get even worser and your nail could like possibly bleed.

All of my nails are long right now too except like 2-3 of my fingers because they kinda broke/splitted.

Trust me.
whenever i break one nail, i always clip the others to the same length. one- because the others start breaking. and two- so they grow the same length together. :]
Yea, go ahead and cut them. I sure not that many people would notice your two finger nails. I wouldn't notice them on somebody lol, but if you want them to be even again just clip em or file em down :)
Yeh u totally should, so they can grow equally and if u don't they would look kind of awkward. But if u choose not to cut them all, u could start a new trend! Who Knows?!
This question is unbelievably unessecary.

Asking about nails? seriously?
Sure.

That way they'll grow at the same rate and you can have beautiful nails again (:
I hate that.

Cut them and start over.
is it really brain surgery. just cut them! sheesh

Is it rude to cut your finger nails in a waiting room?

I was in my eye doctor's waiting room and this old lady was trimming her finger nails. I was thinking couldn't you be looking though a magazine instead of doing that.Is it rude to cut your finger nails in a waiting room?
not everyone is tuned into what's happening in the world, and some never heard the word etiquette let alone tried to follow society's norms. So yes it is rude to cut your fingernails in a waiting room just as it is to file them, put on nail polish, put on your makeup, etc. anything personal. Is it rude to cut your finger nails in a waiting room?
Well, not really rude towards other people, but perhaps unhygenic because she is in a health place after all :/

Although as long as she put her clippings in a bin or something, I guess it doesn't really matter.
No, being snotty and judgemental towards old people would be rude.
it is extremely rude, personal hygiene should be kept at home, in private.
I personally wouldn't find it rude at all but others might so it would be a good idea not to do it.

Ajax or comet bathroom scrub is abrasive and will work best, or clorox bleach if you don't have either of those.

Why do most of the ladies & girls keep long finger nails?

Why do most of the ladies %26amp; girls keep long finger nails?

I'm just being curious. Why do most of the ladies %26amp; girls keep long finger nails?
They're considered feminine qualities, although I hate having long fingernails because they're a pain to clean, file, and I sometimes scratch myself with them.

I prefer short, but not too short, clean nails.:DWhy do most of the ladies %26amp; girls keep long finger nails?
Some ladies like the fact that they can have long nails because it stands out that they are feminist and some like the fact that they have more space to work with for their intricate designs that they get painted on

Others feel it gets in the way they are too high maintenance
they just think they look nicer. expecially when they paint them. but.... not me. i think long fingernails gets in they way, when playing the guitar and video games. i keep mine short. :)
Its a defense mechanism in order to scratch the eyes out of any one daring to assault them.
they are more attractive than stubby short nails like mine :D

    and for scratching haha x
cause there pretty and they feel good on his back...smile

What foods, or anything else help grow long healthy finger nails?

anything with vitamin d in it.What foods, or anything else help grow long healthy finger nails?
    multivitamins or prenatal pills.

also jelloWhat foods, or anything else help grow long healthy finger nails?
A Cube of raw jelly a day is suppose to give you healthy nails and hair. I also find nivea hand and nail cream helps
At walmart there is a vitamin called biotin it promotes healthy nail, hair, and skin. this will help you nails to become stronger and more healthy so they will get longer.
jello and bad meat (grissel and fat)

jello is made up of cow hoofes, and that is the same material as your hair and fingernailes, so it gives your body the stuff to grow your finger nails stronger, longer, and faster
Don't take prenatal vitamins, since you can overload on the iron in it. A multivitamin is enough, eat a good diet with protein and calcium. For a topical product, try Nailtiques (Walgreens).

take calcium pills with magnesium so that you don't get constipated from just the calcium and use HOOF Horsetail Nail HardenerHow do i get my finger nails to grow longer? Give me some suggestions, please.?

  • My friends and co=workers keep asking me ';why you have white spot in my finger nails'; ?

I been have this spot since i remember as a kid, but more in my teens, since i was a kid,i grew up with a lot of dairy products. My doctor says that i got pretty strong bones but since i turned 19 years old , i stop getting the same amount of calcium in my daily diet. What can i do to get my nails back on track ,without those white spots? My friends and co=workers keep asking me ';why you have white spot in my finger nails'; ?
White spots on the fingernail are not caused by calcium deficiencies but is likely due to a past (non-serious) injury to the base of the nail, or less commonly because of an underlying infection. They're called leukonychia and can take a while to show up - around 6 weeks after the injury has occurred. The spots also take about 8 months or more to grow out and disappear, but if it's still hanging around long after this it would be worth checking out with your GP. If it is leukonychia though, it is very common and nothing to worry about.

I'm not sure if you meant to say that you've had these spots your whole life? If so, it still might be possible that it's due to the reasons mentioned above. But if this is not the case at all, then please go make an appointment with the doctor straight away.My friends and co=workers keep asking me ';why you have white spot in my finger nails'; ?
I have heard two things about those:

    A) they are from a lack of calcium, yes.

    B) they are from past injuries to your nail beds, sort of like scarring.

So, I don't know. Consume more calcium if it's really worrying you that badly, but its not dangerous. But if the answer is option B, then I'd assume there isn't much you can do?
Are you talking about the white spots near closest to the finger? Those spots are normal. Most people have them.

I have thin, rigid finger nails. How could I make them look normal?

Do I have to take a certain vitamin or what?I have thin, rigid finger nails. How could I make them look normal?
go get a manicure, but dont allow them to put acrylic or fake nails on, that makes your nails weak. your body is lacking minerals. go to the herbal shop and get some minerals. drink plenty of water and milk is good too.I have thin, rigid finger nails. How could I make them look normal?
Eat jello and yes take a multivitamin.. also remember to always file and buff them. Use a clear nail hardener base coat.. then you can follow up with a professional manicure to keep them strong and healthy!

File it off with a soft nail file. Even though nail varnish is supposed to work, it never really gets it off properly.
Use nail polish with acetone... a good brand
    Try nail varnish remover
You need a non-acetone nail polish remover........it's made for artificial nails.
You can't. You should amputate the finger immediately.
Try a nail file, and acetone polish remover.

How can you make your finger nails grow long?

i want long nails but not fake ones help a girl out!How can you make your finger nails grow long?
If you paint your nails and always keep them painted they will start to grow faster. Your nails need to get air. If they are painted they cant and the auto matic response is it grow so they can get it. I know its soounds silly but its the same thing as your skin. If you painted your whole body your skin couldnt get air and you could actually die. In this case your just painting your nails so obviously you will be fine but they will definatly grow. How can you make your finger nails grow long?
i am going through the same crisis but luckily i know how to fix it!

first of all u cut them to normal size and then u shape them and then file but u have to file in only 1 direction to stop chipping.

then u push down ur cuticles and apply a nail hardener every day for two weeks and during that two weeks do not apply anything else to the nail and BAM!

    perfect nails!

i heard its from a lack of calcium put i drink a lot of milk and had them for as long as i rememberWhat are these white cloud things in my finger nails?
They say it's caused by a deficiency of Vitamin B complex so I took supplements and away they went.

If you're talking about the little white spots that appear on your nails, it's most likely a mild zinc deficiency which can be easily corrected by taking a dietary supplement.

http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/ate/weightandWhat are these white cloud things in my finger nails?
I'm pretty certain I read that the calcium thing is a common misconception and it is actually just where you've bumped your fingers, I guess kind of like bruises on your fingernails. Although the bruise theory may be wrong, but I'm almost sure that the calcium thing is a myth.
i got the same thing, im 16 years old, i heard its sum defiency in sum vitamin or sumin, i got no idea, but i got my mum to get me sum vitamin tablets and its helped a lot, havent seen any yet afta using it for a month, get some of them ;)
Ive also heard that the vitamin deficiency thing is a myth.

when was the last time you cut them? How long are your finger nails?
Yesterday they were kind of long then my mum kept yelling -.- and now they're normal length and quite short...How long are your finger nails?
my finger nails are really short. like far back from the edge of my finger. its cuz i play guitar and they get in the way, so i just keep them way back there. i cut them about a week ago, but i occasionally bite my nails when i'm nervous, and this week has been nerve-wrecking.
short....a few days ago. i try to keep them short enough to not see any of the nail thats not actually attached to my finger.........that was a random question
    Short.

    This evening.
I just cut them thi morning. Before they were about 2cm long (the part off the quick).
idk, average length. and i don't cut them. i file them.

What is the white markings on the finger nails mean?

Usually on the finger nailsWhat is the white markings on the finger nails mean?
Either you banged it or it's a nutritional deficiencyWhat is the white markings on the finger nails mean?
scratched your nails really deep, mixed with a couple air bubbles. It's happened to me before.
at the bottom of the finger nail there is a white line. Most ppl have it. but if it is a big line it means that you are blessed with beauty
    something to do with calcium
Decreased calcium levels? But I don't have any, I take 1,000 mg of calcium everyday.
    french manicure
I have read that it is nail trauma, and then I have read that it is a calcium deficiency.
Could be a few different things.

Nutritional, some diseases, a clogged pore above the nail.

I have lines and intentions in mine.It helped the doctor diagnose my arthritis.

Best to see a doctor and ask him.
you are possessed by the devil.
No, they are probably not air bubbles. Are you referring to the little marks that don't disappear until you cut that part of the nail off? If so, those are little nicks or chips. Nothing to worry about, it just means you knocked it into something and the (natural) enamel on your nails got chipped. This is why many people wear clear protective nail polish.
Little white marks (leukonychia) often appear after minor injuries. They may last for weeks or months and usually go away on their own.

Some considerations to take in mind regarding Leukonychia is that its presence is not a sign of a lack of vitamin or calcium in the diet, is harmless and may be caused simply from a minor injury that occurs when the nail is growing and that it is much more common on fingernails than toenails.
whenever you thump your nails on something hard, they always come up about a day later.
u need to eat more calcium...
bruses on ur nails from hitting them on something, they go away when ur nails grow
i forgot exactly which one, but ive heard that it means that there is a nutrient missing from your diet.
Just calcium deposits. Don't worry it's just when you bang them on something. It'll go away in a few days.
    air bubbles
i get them too. it means you either dont have enough calcium, or too much. try to balance your calcium to get rid of them.
the little white scratches? Those are kind of like little bruises, and they're pretty common on fingernails. I've never gotten one on my toenails but I'm sure you can

If you mean those halfmoon shapes near the cutical, those are air bubbles. Weird, huh?
    bruses
Not enough calcium or food poinsing
it means your life has a purpose. reach for the sun and the stars and everything sparkely and lovely.
Those happen if you smash your finger or injure it, you just have to let them grow out.
it means that you dont have enough caliuim in your diet u;ll need more milk and cheese.
I've heard calcium deficiency the most, but have also heard it could show a lack of many minerals in your diet.
Well a lot of ppl say it is calcium, but that is just a well known myth.. It really has nothing to do with calcium.. They are bruises that damage your nail.. Hitting your nails hard, will make these white markings occur.. Just wait a little bit, and they will go away. OR.. paint ur nails a cute color, and there you go! They're covered! LOL

Don't worry bout it! Its totally normal, and will go away real soon! =]
    It is bruising!

I Need Major Help On How To Stop Biting My Finger Nails?

The tital says it all i need help with biting my finger nails and i won't more of an answer than just ';stop biting.'; Thanks!I Need Major Help On How To Stop Biting My Finger Nails?
    Soak them in something gross like fingernail polish remover, or that ';Stop biting polish';

Just something you don't like the taste of, that way you won't want to bite them when they taste gross.

Remember to keep a little bottle on you though, for when you wash your hands in public.

Good luck!I Need Major Help On How To Stop Biting My Finger Nails?
my teeth started having small cracks and chipping, which forced me to stop biting my finger nails...unfortunately, i now bite the skin off of my fingers to cope with stress and anxiety instead of nail biting. so, stop biting your nails or else you might have permanent dental damage later on. it's extremely difficult to stop unless you're constantly conscious of it. try not to replace that bad habit with another like what i have done. sorry i can't give more of an answer. all i did was think about not biting my nails frequently. it gets easier as time passes.
dip them in a crushed pepper oil. you can find this at any grocery store for less than a dollar. carry the bottle with you if it wears off rub the oil in again but dont rub your eyes also it would be a good idea to wash your hands before you urinate( if you know what i mean) but sometimes if the habit is bad enough you will get used to the bad taste but if your mouth is on fire you will eventually quit
i have the same habit i bite my nails, skin around nail

im doing it when im nervous or stressed

    ive tried everything lotions,nail polish

    doesnt work on me
For me it was the pain that made me stop. When I was still in elementary school I'd bite my finger nails and rip off part of the tip. This would often leave my fingertips feeling sensitive. It really hurt. Using a nail clipper is much more convenient and painless. I'm not really sure if I can help though especially if the habit was initiated differently
Get anti nail biting polish and use it on your fingernails it works! it keeps you from biting its very bitter and nasty.
put hand sanitizer on like 10 times a day and after you wash your hands it'll taste so nasty you'll take toy hand out of your mouth. or put cayen pepper under you fingernails it'll make your mouth really hot. hope it works 4 you good luck.

Why Are The Tips of Our finger nails white?

Okay okay i know...this question is SERIOUSLY random but i just happen to be painting my fingernails when the question popped into my mind.

so why is it that the tips of our fingernails are white but the rest are basically skin color???Why Are The Tips of Our finger nails white?
Your whole nail is actually white but the skin under it makes it look pinkish. The end shows up white because there is no skin under it.Why Are The Tips of Our finger nails white?
the end of the nail is the dead part
well its clear, so our nails look more tanish, pink becuase of the flesh under them....the tips are clear/white because it has nothing behind it lol..im pretty sure thats why haha
because the tips arent connected to your skin, so its white and not skin color

    =]] haha im random too

    CHEESEPUFFS!

    =]]
i don't know, they are made out of hair stuff though, and, the regular part is only pink because of blood,

    eeeewww, i hate that word
cus theres no skin connected to it.
    pretty nails duh
The tip of ur nails r white because they r they r the part of the nail thats dead. And it goes off of ur skin.

What is wrong with my finger nails?

Ok i have been wearing fake nails for the past month or so and now under two of my nail there are these small brown lines that showed up several day ago and have grown allitle and new ones have started to form. What is going on? What is wrong with my finger nails?
Those are burst capillaries under the nail bed. Any trauma can do it, from smacking your nail on the kitchen counter to bending it back to rough manicuring. (Did you tug removing the fake nails?)

They're harmless and eventually move to the end of the nail, where you can scrape them away. What is wrong with my finger nails?

If from supermarket, leave them off for a while. If done by a Nail Tech, go and see them, as it may be a fungal infection starting, and please don't say you went to a Asian Nar Bar, if you did they do not sanitise there products/intruments and that is the start of fungal, I would suggest to go to a decent Nail Tech so that they can inspect the damage and use the proper treatment to begin with, and they may be able to stop the fungai.

Hope this helps, as if you don't have it treated by a professional, the nail bed will have to grow out and you will not be able to wear Acrylics until this problem is solved.

Good Luck honey. Let me know how you go and what the Nail Tech recommended/

    Minny :-)
are these brown lines like streaks under ur nails??...if so, they might be splinter haemorrhages!! you should get them checked if more develop!! as this is a sign of infective endocarditis, SLE...and some other conditions

if they r on you nail (not on the nail bad) then they might just be melanin deposits!!
Go to the place where you had them put on and ask if it is a fungus. Chances are they have seen whatever it is before and can identify it for you.

  • Why does finger nails peel in layers? Is it a lack of a mineral ?

I have always had this problem, even if I apply nail polish it does not last 3 days....perhaps a bit more with varnish....why does it leave the nail top layers. Why does finger nails peel in layers? Is it a lack of a mineral ?
i was told it was lack of calcium but maybe best to ask docWhy does finger nails peel in layers? Is it a lack of a mineral ?
Probably a lack of calcium and vitamin D in your diet. You can get a nail enricher/strengthener that is in polish form that will help. Also, try Biotin (pill) that will help keep nails and hair healthy.
Malnutrition. I'd suggest taking a daily multivitamin before your hair starts falling out in clumps.

And yes, malnutrition can occur if you eat normally.

The way your hair, nails, and skin appear usually reflects your overall health on the inside. Eat a well balanced diet full of fresh fruits and veggies don't forget your lean meats like fish and poultry. Try not to put too many chemicals on your nails some can do more harm than good. Focus on fixing the problem from the inside out.

here's a website that might help you. http://au.health.yahoo.com/041101/25/1uzn.html?r=967673065
It has to do with your genes, i bet your paernt, or maby even your grandparents have this exact problem.
no, you just have thin nails. try buying a fiber growth nail polish, it should help.
idk. mine do that too. you should drink liquid jello. it helps so i've heard.

Can i color my finger nails with black sharpie?

if i color my nails with black sharpie will it come off easily? and how can i get it off. and will it stain my nails at all? just wondering. Can i color my finger nails with black sharpie?
    Wait.

    Your a guy.

Question mark? Can i color my finger nails with black sharpie?
haha lol... my friend colors her nails w/ black sharpie, too. yepp.... no harm in doing it. and yes it will come off. you can use alchohol or nail polish remover, and it wont stain your nails...but remember try not to get it anywhere else other than ur nails cuz it can come off easliy on ur nails but it'll be a lil harder to take it off when its on ur skin... and one more easier way.... u can always buy black nail polish...
yeah, you can but it will stain your nails a light tint of yellow.

you can get it of by washing your hands multiple times with hot water. it will probably fade in less than a day. or you could just use nail polish remover.
If you really want your nails black, I would suggest painting your nails black and remove it with a standard nail polish remover over colouring your nails.
yea you can do it. just wash with soap it should come off. no it shouldn't stain your nails.

also why do you even want to do this?
yeah, it comes off within the next day.

you can wash it off, or use alchocol to get it off.

but its not good for your nails, but I usually do it anyways... haha.
you could, but it wouldn't come off. ever. you'd have to wait for your nails to grow out. then they'd look really stupid and be half-black half-natural. just get cheap nail polish.
no it wont stain and yes it comes off easily, me and my friend did that today and it came off of her nails like right away
sharpie doesnt come off easily at all!

    just use black nail varnish

colouring your nails in with pens looks groce :/
It comes of your nails but stains the skin around them for a few days.

    Just don't try it ;P
It won't stain. But I recomend black nail polish XD
    it's does come off
wash your hands with soap and water after. Not that difficult.

What are those white marks that i sometimes get on my finger nails?

they look like air bubbles sorta...u know what i mean hahaWhat are those white marks that i sometimes get on my finger nails?
    It's a calcium deposit.

Nothing to be worried about. It's perfectly natural.

It's just excess calcium in your body.. it helps your nails grow as long as making your bones strong. What are those white marks that i sometimes get on my finger nails?
it usually indicates a vitamin/mineral deficiency - like zinc or magnesium. make sure you follow a balanced food plan like the food pyramid and take multivitamins.
means you need to eat more green veggies, cant remember off hand what nutrients you arent gettting enough of, but green (pref, raw veggies) have lots...
i believe its a deficiency of some vitamin

i get these thin black lines that run from the bottom of my fingernails to the top. the lines ARE NOT picth black but more like a faded black what does it mean is it badWhat does it mean when you have black lines on your finger nails?
It may mean you are not getting enough of a particular vitamin that helps your fingernails, or that you have a medical condition. It may also just be a sign of age. Talk to your doctor and see if he/she knows what the problem is! Hope I helped! What does it mean when you have black lines on your finger nails?
i think they are called splinter hemmorages. they sound fairly harmless. Or it could be some sort of fungal infection which is bad. I would just go to your doctor. Make an appointment, not an emergency one or anything, just to make sure your ok :)
Sometimes, you can hit your nails and it makes a bruise that looks like black lines.
I got the same thing,i think it has to do with not enough vitamins or some sh*t.
its has to with calcium in your body. drink your milk...not that fat free or 2% **** either.

I had tips put on my and the clear stuff is seperating from my finger nails...is that normal?

It's been 2 weeks and I know its normal for my nails to grow out and leave a gap, but the clear stuff is actually seperating from my real finger nails and one nail actually came off today. Is that supposed to happen? I am getting them filled in a few days, should I go to a different place?I had tips put on my and the clear stuff is seperating from my finger nails...is that normal?
Yes this is normal, you should be getting a fill every two weeks. If one of your nails came off you should maybe doing fills more often than two weeks. If you are planning on getting them done regularly find a place you like and make your next appointment after you get your nails done, that way you don't ever have to wait.I had tips put on my and the clear stuff is seperating from my finger nails...is that normal?

ok so theyre not like banana yellow but no matter how much i clean my finger nails, buff them, trim them and use nail polish remover on them they just always look yellow and dirty. i sometimes dye my hair with out gloves on so i understand y theyre dirty plus just the wear and tear of life but is there n e way to get rid of the yellow dirty look that they have? How do you get rid of yellow finger nails?
soak your finger tips in bleach. then wash hands with soap and water. they will smell like bleach for a little while, but it will wear off.How do you get rid of yellow finger nails?
Go to a beauty supply store and ask them for nail whitener. Yes it's that easy. You may also actually have a type of fungus in your nail bed that causes you nails to look dirty or yellow. Also eating a good diet and making sure you're getting all your vitamins and minerals will help your nails grow strong and look pretty and white. Also a manicure once a week or every other week will help keep your nails healthy.
nail polish remover wont help... use something like a base coat(kinda like nail polish but clear) to help your nails stay stronger and healthier. it might make it look cleaner. hope i helped :]
    if you smoke it won't

Why do I have pits on my finger nails?

In the past few months I've noticed little pits on my finger nails. First it seemed like a lot on my left thumb... now there's less on my left thumb, but there's a few on my right thumb, and a lot on both my left pointer and left pinky. I haven't seen any pits on my other fingers.

I've read online that it could be caused by psoriasis, but I have no other symptoms of that. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be caused by? Should I be worried? Why do I have pits on my finger nails?
nail pitting can sometimes be caused by a vitamin deficiency. Do you take daily multi-vitamins? You might want to start. Why do I have pits on my finger nails?
    Hi Zzilly 14,

It's really funny you say that it started on your left thumb, then your right, and then your pinky, because that is exactly how it happened to me. I still haven't gotten an answer as to why, however, I did learn that lack of zinc can also have such effects.

    Good luck.

I noticed a few weeks ago that my nails are yellow at the tips, and i dont know why. I don't smoke, so that cannot be a reason. i where nail polish often, could that be why? ...i dont think so. does anyone have a clue as to why my nails are changing color? is there anything i can do to fix them? Why are my finger nails yellow?
If you dont wear a base coat before applying your regular polish that might b it too.Why are my finger nails yellow?
Its either something in your diet.

If not its definitely the nail polish.

It has certain acids in it that stains the nails yellow once the polish has been removed.
If you wear nail polish often then that is probably why. After a while it will really stain them. You can buff it off with a nail buffer or bleach them back. Not any big deal.
You may have fungus. You can go to a doctor to see if they can remove it.
i got yellow fingernails from eating too many carrots. also the type of nail polish could break the sructure of them down casuing them to turn yello....
Mineral deficiency I think. Lay off the nail polish for a while.
    stop being dirty...*****!!!
You will need plent of water and five fruits a day.

    Also wash regularly.
Too much carrots or other foods with lots of carotene can do that.
Nails turn yellow if you use too much nail polish, too often. It's a fact.
Fungal infection. Go to the Doctor.
Mine are yellow too. I think it's because of our diet.

Why do some women want their finger nails really long?

Do they think its attractive? Why do some women want their finger nails really long?
That is a good question. I always thought it looked tacky and how on earth can anyone do anything when their nails are so long? From a woman's perspective, I definitely don't think they look attractive. Why do some women want their finger nails really long?
I think a lot of women want long nails because it is a fairly cheap and quick way to change the way they look. It takes dieting to lose weight and working out to get muscular. Getting some press on nails only takes about thirty minutes.
    i like mine short.
they like to have germs on their fingers
I don't understand that either. I don't think its attractive and I personally would never let my nails grow really long. yuck.
long or well manicured? if long %26amp; unkept = horrible. long well manicured nails looked elegant %26amp; exbudes confident. well maintain %26amp; someone who takes care of herself

I think it makes my hands very feminine and sexy. It also makes my fingers look longer. I don't have the time to get the acrylic tips anymore, but I do think they look nice. Good for scratching a guy's back too!
Yes, I like short fingernails though because then they don't catch and break or hurt someone. lol.

    Here are two techniques:

First is to lay scotch tape over the nail leaving the tip you want to paint white. Paint the nail tip, let the paint dry, then remove the tape.

Second is the type I use, but it takes a little more practice. Place the tip of the finger you want to paint on a flat surface like a table. Get a fair amount of nailpolish on the brush. Roll the finger so the far edge is faceing up, put the polish brush against your nail tip, and then roll the finger away from you slowly and smoothly. This will paint a smooth, straight line of white. How do I make my finger nails ';French Nails'; without crookedness? Like with white tops?
Skip the hard work and just do a brush-on one step French Manicure from MyNaturalNails.com. It dries fast and looks great. No messy mistakes and it takes seconds to do.

How do I keep my finger nails from breaking so much?

    Caring For Your Nails

Cleaning - If nails are dirty, use a bristled nail brush to remove debris from around cuticles or from under fingernails. Remove all polish with nail polish remover; do not pick at polish as that can damage the surface of nails.

Shaping - Nails should be gently filed with a fine emery board, never with a metal file that can cause damage. File in gentle, long strokes from corner to center; do not ';saw away'; at nails. Keep the emery board poised at a 45 degree angle in relation to the fingertip to prevent damaging the nail layers. Do not file deep into corners of the nail; this weakens the nail. In general, shorter nails are easier to maintain.

Protecting - Do not use your nails to scrape or lift anything, or to pull anything open. Wear gloves when washing dishes and use nail and hand lotion daily to keep hands and nails moisturized.

Polishing - You may wish to use only a ridge-filling colorless coat on your nails to give them extra shine and strength. If you polish your nails, use a ridge-filling base coat followed by color and then a protective top coat for the best results. Give your nails at least an hour to dry before using your hands.

    cut it frequently
put small pieces of garlic in your nail polish bottle and get more protien in your diet.
You have to keep them mosturized! Use oil and oil you ahve in your house even vegetable! Works like a charm!
good question ,,i have the same problem,,but i heard that by going to a professional you can put wraps on them and they become hard..try it
I know when I worked in healthcare I was washing my hands dozens of times a day and my nails flaked and broke easily. Lotion probably would have helped me. So perhaps you wash too often and don't moisturize enough?
My female friends have tried the following: eat Jello, the ingredients allegedly help strengthen nails. Also, when a nail cracks, wick a small bit of superglue into the crack to keep it from breaking further (you'd want to be really careful about this to avoid glueing fingers together or having other misadventures with superglue). I can vouch for that one, having repaired a nail that tore into the quick.
I don't know. Ask Freddy krueger. He has some strong nails.
    get some nail harden polish!
drink jello water......ive heard this from my grandmother, and my mother......thats how i know...lol...
buy nail lotion. %26amp; file or cut your nails often. also always wear nail polish. it helps.
daily night apply almond oil on nails
paint both sides. the top and underneath the nails. it makes them stronger.

Does the skin split below finger nails - vitamin deficiency?

I observed my skin below the finger nail splits. I feel its little dry and the area is pain ful. This happens frequently....observed when I have more coffee and cigarattes. Does also vitamin deficiency play a role in the split cause? Appreciate your answers and remedy if possible.Does the skin split below finger nails - vitamin deficiency?
I think zinc deficiency as well as lacking some B-vitamins may cause the nails to become more brittle and may result in some cracks or marks on the nails(especially zinc deficiency). Zinc deficiency also causes the hair to become weak and to fall out. Make sure you are getting enough vitamin C and water too. Ask a doctor if this gets worse, maybe it is even stress related.

What would cause a childs finger nails to drop off?

This is definitely not normal. You need to get your child checked out by his/her pediatrician. Nails falling off is an indication that in the very least some sort of serious vitamin deficiency is occuring but it could be more serious than that. Call the doctor to get some blood tests run. Why humans have nails? It appears that the finger nails grow faster that feet? Is it true and if so why?

I do understand that primitives had nails but fail to understand why do we still have them? What is their use? Also the growth rate on the fingers on your hand appears to be faster than the fingers on the feet. Is this just myth or a fact. If so why there such a variance in growht rate? Why humans have nails? It appears that the finger nails grow faster that feet? Is it true and if so why?
The reason of why we have nails in our fingers and in our feet it's just because God made us like that.

The finger nails grow faster than the feet's nails, it's because the nails of our fingers are enriched with more hormones that we get from the food/beverages.

Sometimes we see our feet's nails and we ask to ourselves '' Why do I have my finger nails bigger than my feet nails?''

The answer will be that our feet are always hide in our shoes, socks and we never care about them (most of the people) seeing that our feet are amazing and they transport us to everywhere. The feet nails are always growing slowly because that type of nails do not receive the minerals, and vitamins that they need to grow; and also because air.

So here you have your answer, the nails of the fingers are growing quicker because of the air, exposed to the sun, everywhere! So that's why....

I hoped that this answers has helped you.Why humans have nails? It appears that the finger nails grow faster that feet? Is it true and if so why?
finger nails are tools ,to scratch with ,untie knots .get bugs out of your hair ,use like pinchers ,clean your ears .

and can i ask a personal question are you by any chance a monkey ,(i like monkeys very much by the way) because you have fingers on your feet .

if that is the case you should know all about the use of your finger nails
No my feet nails grow faster. I think they grow at the same rate but my finger nails break easier cause i dont use my feet to grab things but i use my hands for much more.
    Because we do
yah my fingernails grow faster too.. my gues is that if you cut it more the faster itll grow back (like shaving?) and so people probably cut their fingernails more often since its easier. so it grows back faster?? i dono thats my theory
if you didnt wear socks and shoes they would probably be more comparable.
primates have nails 2 help grip things.rthey evolved from claws

Can you play Guitar with long finger nails?

I have long nails..and I was wondering can you play guitar with long nails....Dolly Parton (who is my fav singer)...plays the guitar with her long nails?....how does she do it?? can it be done??Can you play Guitar with long finger nails?
Dolly and other artists having long fingernails on their left hand play by tuning the guitar into a chord, usually, G major. They then barre the frets which produce the major chords needed for their songs. Obtaining dominant 7ths, diminished 7ths, major 6ths, and minor chords would be difficult.

I keep the nails of my left hand moderately short, but do use them occasionally to pluck additional notes as I use my right hand, getting a different sound from the strings at the nut.Can you play Guitar with long finger nails?
Thank you, I can see you, for selecting my reply as best.

call me weird, but my nails on the left hand are always shorter than the ones on the right. i keep my nails long on the strumming side because i don't really like picks and it's easier to pluck when they're longer. (=
it'll be more difficult but not impossible.
    Not well, No!

I used to play quite well, then I decided to be a lot more feminine. Look after myself, etc. But goodbye guitar: it's a butch thing! (Regardless of whether you are male or female).

    Take up keyboards!
It would be pretty hard on the fret board. Pick one up, press on finger down on a string, and play it. And you'll see why. Would be good for picking the stings though.
depends on how your coming down on your notes....straight on or flat...if straight on (no)...if your coming down flat (shure)....
Can be done, but it's far harder. Yet if you practice enough, like Dolly, then you should grow acustomed to it and play just as well! On the down side you will be far more likely to scratch the plate : ( , but yes it can be done!
well there was an interview with DOLLY Parton years ago where she was just strumming her guitar and the interviewer asked how she played with long nails,

    she promptly replied

    '; well i just take em off ';

so i think that answers your question on both accounts!!
We're talking about your fretting hand, right? The basic answer would be NO - your finger tip has to contact the string and the fret board to get a clean sound. Even a slightly long nail ends up digging into the fret board. However, I have seen some ladies hold their fingers flat to avoid the nails - they can't play well, but they can play some basic chords. I think that's what Dolly does.
It's normal to have long nails on your right hand when you play the guitar,it's actually easier...but you can't have on your left hand ;)
yes flamenco style guitarists use their long nails to make the right sounds, its easier for strumming and they use them to tap on the guitar too. its what makes the style sound so amazing.
Sure, only with the plucking hand. It's a must for classical and flamenco.
One of the finest flaminco guitarists in the world is...don't laugh too hard because it's true...Charro. Really long nails and plays incredibly well.
it would be difficult on the fret board as you would get a lot of dead strings and buzzing, but you could tune your guitar to a key and just bar each chord [whole finger across all strings]
It would be difficult but not impossible. Hard to get a good clear sound with long nails on the fret board.

  • How do you get your 9 year old daughter to stop biting her finger nails?

It depends on what will motivate her to stop, and why she's doing it in the first place. I was a habitual nail-biter since age 6 or so, and my parents tried everything! Rubber band around the wrist to distract me from biting, the polish that tastes bad (this may be a good option!) and multiple rewards and punishments. Is your daughter biting because she's nervous or scared about something, or is it just a habit that she doesn't even realize she's doing?

Good luck. . . . it's a hard habit to quit! How do you get your 9 year old daughter to stop biting her finger nails?
    Well,

They make this sort of special nail polish. It stays on your nails for a while. the thing is it smells TERRIBLE and when you put your hand to your face you automatically pull your hand away cause it stinks!

    OR

you could show her how pretty it is to have long nails and how she can paint them all different colors...maybe encourage her by going out and buying her a set of different colored nail polishes...

but! remeber dark colors arnt good for your nails it keeps sunlight from being absorbed by them. How do you get your 9 year old daughter to stop biting her finger nails?
Do something fun like taking her out and getting her nails done.
do her nails paint them pretty girl colors light pinks, red, purples, what ever her fave color is. and make a huge deal out of keeping her nails looking good. don't tell her why though just do it and don't nag (never works, ask our own parents). just make sure every 3-4 days her nails are always kept pretty, she will stop biting them.
Confront your problem. Get a camera and take some pictures of your bitten fingernails. Examine your nails, and list their problems.

Visualize yourself with healthy nails, and how great they will look.

Pick at least one nail to ';protect'; at a time.

After a few days, an unbitten nail will flourish and reward you. Do not bite it. If you must, bite one of the 'unprotected' ones.

Once you have grown your unbitten nail for a while, start protecting another one. And another.

Record your progress in a notebook or photo album. Take ';before and after'; photos of your nails and put them in the book to keep you motivated. Recognizing that it usually takes takes three weeks to grow nails half a centimeter, chart out in the book how long you want your nails to be by a certain date.

Eat calcium- and magnesium- rich foods so that your nails will repair and grow well. Not only that, but most of the reason that the human body wants to bite nails is the lack of calcium and magnesium in the body and the body needs that material back.

Push your cuticles back. Many nail-biters do not have ';moons'; on the base of their fingernails because their cuticles have not been pushed back. To do this, gently push your cuticles towards your finger to reveal more of your nail. This is easier to do after a shower when your hands and nails are wet. This makes the nail appear longer, and it gives a more attractive shape, which might also be a motivation to stop biting.

Find a habit to take the place of nail biting. Whenever you have the urge to bite, do that instead. Some people like to drum their fingers, or just stare at their hands. Just make sure it's not a bad habit; choose a helpful one or one that doesn't really matter either way. 'Bitrex' is a chemical that is put in products to make them taste foul, obtained from your local pharmacy. It's included in nibble inhibitors that you paint on to your nails. Carry some with you at all times. Apply your nasty solution several times a day. If you get used to the taste, choose another brand.

Distract your mouth. Eat carrot sticks to keep you busy. Keep a stick of gum handy for those weak moments.

No more idle hands..Distract your hands by taking up a hobby.

A hobby to distract your hands might be making models or maintaining your house, knitting or crochet, running or other outside pursuits, or even nail care and decoration!

For those whose nail biting is obsessive/compulsive it may help to approach your hobby obsessively.

Cover your nails. For females, fit artificial nails. They can really help. For guys, polish them and apply some shine/growth promoter or petroleum jelly. It's harder to bite nails that are looking great!

Keep gloves in your back pocket and wear them when you want to bite.

Put little pieces of tape on the ends of your fingers, to remind yourself how destructive biting is.

If you have any surplus growth, cut your nails back. Keep clippers with you at all times. You can't bite if there's nothing there!

Speaking about your nails will help to focus your mind on your goals. Ask for help from your partner(s). Keep talking about your goals.

Show off your improved nails, and get much-needed encouragement and praise from your peers.

Be proud of your improving nails. They will shine with beauty.

Go for a manicure, and chat with the manicurist about having great nails.

If you are male and you go in for a manicure and anyone gives you grief for not being manly, just say you are taking radical steps, whatever it takes. That should be manly enough for anyone.

Keep looking after your nails, with cuticle oil, shine and growth promoter, and no biting!

Get to know yourself, the first step is to be conscious when you start biting your nails. Feel your anxiety or stress levels.

Don't start thinking there is a short term solution. To stop nail biting, one requires patience and awareness.

Use an emery board to file when ever you feel like biting. Even if you file them down to nothing, it's better then chewing into your nail bed. Ouch!

Try using a coating that seals moisture in the nail and repels water and dirt. Oils or even waxy lip balm can be effective at softening nails.

Keep going with the program, any setbacks should be confronted as quickly as possible, to prevent a complete relapse.

Let white spots grow out gently. They are caused by blows or stress to the nail.

Take magnesium pills, one a day. They strengthen the nails and make them hard.

Try keeping an ';egg'; of Silly Putty with you! It is fun to play with and it occupies your hands during biting-prone times like while watching movies or television or sitting in class. Or you can try keeping a quarter or other coin in your pocket, and play with it when you feel the urge to bite your nails. Plus, these don't involve eating or chewing on anything, so they will help break the habit of oral fixation.

Challenge yourself: how many hours can you go without taking a bite? When you break a previous record, get yourself a treat. Then see: can you go a day? Three days? a week? two weeks?

Clean, manicured nails will be such an improvement to your self-esteem. You'll see!

If the habit is unconscious (i.e., you don't even notice yourself starting to do it), consider using NLP or hypnotherapy - practitioners will know some great techniques for retraining your mind very quickly and easily to remove unwanted habits.

See if you can notice how or when you decide to start biting. There may be an underlying cause of stress, nerves or boredom perhaps. Dealing with the underlying and real issue could stop the nail biting and more.

Try chewing gum to keep your mouth busy.

You might also want to try putting nail polish on. Since it tastes so bad, you won't want to bite your nails anymore.

As your nails/skin grow, they will seem puffy and itchy. This is normal! This fudge-finger sensation will go away in time.

Clean your nails! Part of the reason you bite them is because they are dirty. Buff then, scrub them, clean them. This will make you appreciate them more.

If you are artistic, try doing projects with clay or plaster. It gets all over your hands, and the flavour stays in your nails (and all over your hands) long after you wash off any visible mess. They both taste bad to many people (clay tastes salty and can leave a slimy texture and plaster tastes chalky) and doing the projects will also keep your hands busy.

Put nail jewels on your nails. These are hard to bite, and the risk of one coming off in your mouth may scare you into quitting your habit.

Remember that long ago, people used to think that bitten nails got lodged in people's intestines (to this day some parents still tell their children this). Even though we know now that this is not actually true, it's a gross thing to think about as you chew...

Don't be silly and replace nail-biting with a worse habit. While stubby digits are unhealthy and painful, other habits can be worse.

    Chewing your fingernails invites infection.

Brittle nails can be caused by strong detergents and chemicals, sun exposure, poor diet, or prolonged use of nail hardeners. Avoid the use of hardeners containing formaldehyde, which has a drying effect on nails.

Remember beauty is only skin deep. As is ugly. Telling yourself you are ugly will only undermine your self esteem and keep you from being your best. Tell yourself instead that you are a special person and that you deserve to have healthy looking nails too.
you can buy this nail polish that is really nasty!!!! and when she bites her nails she will hate it. if she doesn;t let u out it on her nails then do it when she is asleep. well i hope i helped.
Biting nails is a bad habit... but people do it to reduce stress. If you really want her to stop, make sure she trims her fingernails short and often, and tell her if she stops biting them, that you will treat her to a manicure. You could also give her that special nail polish that tastes bad and smells bad or dip her nails in something gross that tastes bad, like vinegar.
it might seem punishing, but if she don't like spicy food ...put something on her nails like hotsauce...or even putting tape on her finger tips...just put something on them or cut them low so she won't be able to get to them
Well, my step sister was a real bad nail-biter, and my parents used to dip her fingers in viniger, that worked preaty well.

Why did God intelligently design us to have finger nails and toe nails?

It makes us kind of resemble....well, monkeys. Why did God intelligently design us to have finger nails and toe nails?
So his holy inquisitors would have something to pull out to convince heathens to ';repent';.Why did God intelligently design us to have finger nails and toe nails?
God made us in His own image %26amp; likeness. He has His reasons %26amp; we have many uses for our nails. When papers are stuck together, we use our nails to separate them. Also, if there's tape on something it isn't supposed to be on, we use our nails to help us remove the tape. He was very considerate in making us with nails. Yes, monkeys have nails, but that doesn't mean I'm considered a monkey. Same way we draw a picture in the way we want it to look, He made us how He wanted to make us. (: %26amp; Im very thankful for that.
Well, we use our fingernails to peel the fruit we eat (when we were created, we ate lots of fruit, making that an intelligent idea), and toenails and fingernails both protect the very sensitive areas on top of our fingers and toes, which to me, seems intelligent. We can also use our nails to dig into things, tear things apart, etc.
There is no such thing as intelligent design. The way we are is as a result of millions and millions of years of gradual evolution, the end result of which looks like, retrospectively, as though it had been designed. But really there is no intelligent design.
If it doesn't have a tail it's not a monkey, even if it has a monkey kind of shape.

If it doesn't have a tail it's not a monkey...

If it doesn't have a tail it's not a monkey it's an ape!

    - ';Silly Songs by Larry'; Veggie Tales
Out of all of the parts of the body, you picked finger nails and toe nails to connect us to monkeys?

That's interesting. Perhaps an answer would be for protection of sensitive skin. I don't know.
I want to know why he gave us an appendix, or the so called wisdom teeth we need to remove to avoid dental complications. And why was our eye intelligently designed with a blind spot while the octopus has a sensibly ';manufactured'; eye?
Forget about the finger nail thing, what about the fact that not all of our (wisdom) teeth fit into our mouths and that appendixes are useless unless you count exploding and causing death.
Fingernails do have a function--they stiffen and strengthen the ends of the digits.

Darn near everything about humans resembles the great apes.
    Blessed be the Baby Jesus!!!

    http://www.joe-ks.com/archives_aug2003/T…
Most animals have toenails. The horse's hoof is just one big toenail. Cat's claws are toenails.

We just aren't all that special.

    .
I'm happy to have fingernails. It makes opening soda cans and other tabbed lids much easier.
Ok...A lot of animals have toenails and stuff and we need to scratch stuff with the nails.
all the better to scratch out the eyes of the infidels.
eww..... feet %26amp; toes are ugly enough. Without toe nails they would be really gross! I hate feet! : )
could you imagine life without them, it seems a silly question, but i hope this helps you find an answer
it helps for protection and to pry up my sink dingie that goes down and then the water is stopped up.
So people would not confuse a penis with a finger. lol
    Haha I know, right.

    It's crazy isn't it?
and is that your thought on why we have a butt hole too??
So we could open bananas, I mean what other argument is there?
It's easier to pick our nose with fingernails.
cause thats what we evolved from.
What else am I gonna chew on all day?

Are women turned off by men who bite their finger nails?

When i show my friends how bad i bite my nails they all get freaked out and disgusted. I don't think its that bad, but i've grown up with it.

I was wondering if this is why a lot of the girls i ask out turn me down? Are women turned off by men who bite their finger nails?
i personally wouldn't turn someone down cause of their nails...

but i do encourage you to stop though.

it's a bad habit. Are women turned off by men who bite their finger nails?
I dont find dat a turn off i mean its js a bad habit but dat wouldnt stop me 4rom dating a guy o turn me off 4rom even hookn up wit him. If you think you do it too much try n stop but dnt think dats y gurls have turned u down in da past cuz i think dats a stupid reason to turn a guy down!
yes men have been know to do things and hard labor jobs and also have been known not to wash their hands and not use lotion so when a man bites their finger nails to a woman thats a total turn of.but if a women is biting her nails its a diffrent story.
It's so unhygienic and maybe unattractive. Get yourself a regular manicure and seen the difference side of it. Doesn't matter how your nails look but your heart will lead where you want to do.
I bite my nails...people always bug me about it. It doesn't seem gross to me like it does to other people for some reason.

So, I guess women who don't bite are probably turned off and women who do aren't.
That would be kinda stupid if that was the reason.

But you should try and quit that habit!

Why does my 16 month old girl have white lines across her finger nails?

My 16 month old daughter has distinct white lines across her finger nails iv read by some that its a vitamin deficiency but i was just reading on the web this medical page was saying that it could mean arsenic or lead poisoning! im scared is this true? please answer from a nail tech or medical person thanks. Why does my 16 month old girl have white lines across her finger nails?
White lines are caused from trauma to the nail. Is she biting down or sucking on her fingers? She may be banging her nails somehow on mayber her crib wall, toys, etc. White lines back in the day were like an old wives tale, white lines indicated ';little white lies';. It may also be a calcium defiency. To ease your mind take her in to the doc, you not seeing blood, fever, blueness hue to her nail bed, nothing to worry about :) Take her in though for peace of mind. Blessings to you and yours :)Why does my 16 month old girl have white lines across her finger nails?
White lines in or across the nail can signal fever, liver or heart disease, kidney disorders or, more likely, a lack of iron or zinc in your diet. I am sure it is probably more the iron or zinc factor. My advice would be to call your doctors office and ask to speak to the nurse that way they will be able to tell you if your child needs to be seen. Good luck and I'm sure everything will be okay. It's good that you are a nurturing concerned parent.
vitamin deficiency probably calcium , and why the hell are you asking yahoo and not a doctor.
PLEASE make that child a doctors appointment ASAP. Please.
INSTEAD OF ASKING ON YAHOO TRY A DOCTOR
I AM NOT A PHYSICIAN. Ok, I think it could be a defiency of some sort- a vitamin definiecy???? ONLY A DOCTOR CAN TELL YOU. TAKE HER IN- AND FOLLOW THE DOCTORS ADVICE.

How To Stop Your Toddler From Biting There Finger Nails?

She's Almost two and has just started taking up the habit of biting her finger nails. The Problem is with this is she chews them down so far sometimes her fingers start to bleed or cause her pain which makes her cry. Even if I tell her to stop or take her fingers out of her mouth, in seconds there right back in there. So how do I stop this issue? How To Stop Your Toddler From Biting There Finger Nails?
While nail-biting is not always a ';stress'; issue, it sounds to me like your toddler is under more stress than she can handle.

Talk with you pediatrician and see what suggestions he/she might have for you. In the meantime, try to cut down on the stress or over stimulation at home (certain t.v. programs, etc.). Offer your little girl sugar free chewing gum (without swallowing) and give her more games/activities to do that keep her hands busy.

Give her ';dress-up'; gloves to wear and see if this helps some. How To Stop Your Toddler From Biting There Finger Nails?
I started biting my nails around her age, and didn't stop until I was 23. This really will become a problem if it isn't nixed as soon as possible. I stopped by putting Stop The Bite nail polish on mine. It took it a few months, but I've been bite-free for over a year now!
tell her not to, and reward her if she does.
Good Luck- my daughter is 5 and I still can't get her to stop biting. I even put the nail biter stuff on and she just keeps chewing. I bit my nails for years and showed her what they are going to look like if she doesn't stop but nothing works. We paint what little nail she has and she thinks that looks nice but then just keeps chewing. Let me know if you have any progress and I'll watch this question for help for me too!!
The old fasion way...Put some tape on those suckers
I have a 5yr old and he has the same problem. I decided to treat him to a manicure and he loved the fuss I made of his hands and nails. So each time they grow so that he can see the white he begs to cut them with a manicure! He loves the attention and funny enough he is actually growing his nails out.
Go to the local drug store they carry a finger nail polish that is clear and you can put it on the nails and when they bite them it taste really bad. I believe it is called no bite. Its safe and it does work. My mom used to use it on me! Its like a bitter taste! It was grose and it made me stop!
its a NASTY HABIT, BUT I HAVENT STOPPED AND iM 36, GOOD LUCK, THANK GOODNESS FOR THE NAIL SHOP
You can always paint her nails and tell her if she doesn't bite them they will stay pretty. I didn't have this option with my son, so when I saw that he was biting his nails I would put a little bit of something that tasted bad (like lemon or lime juice) on his finger tips and when he bit them he didn't like the taste. However, this does ware off and if the nails are too far down it will burn which is not a good idea. I only had to do this once or twice, he got the hint.
there is a thing you can get that you put on her fingers that makes them taste bad...ask your pharmasist about it. but i got to tell you my mom tryed it on me when i was little and it didn't really work. i am still trying to quit biting my nails
my son bit his nails only when he about to start teething a new set of teeth. maybe you can substitute her fingers with some biter biscuits or even a pacificer? another alternetive is to dip her fingers in some vineger or coffee to make the bitter/sour taste deter her from biting them. nailpolish is not advisable as she can chip and swollow them.
they have a clear nail polish that taste really bad, it for thimb sucking but i dont see why it wouldnt work for nail biting
Cut her nails in regular intervals so that she may not find nails to bite...............
my son did this aswell, he also bit his toe nails eww!! when you catch her doing it, just tell her to stop tell her it is yucky and there are germs in her nails that will make her sick. eventually she will grow out of it . . . my son did it for about 3 months then he just stopped. his new thing is picking his nose :(

    Good Luck
If you use the stuff that tastes bad make sure she doesn't rub her eyes with it on. It really hurts and is very difficult to rinse out. For my daughter I would take her to the salon to get her nails painted we started this about 2yrs old. She loved getting her nails done with mommy. (most places will do hers for free if mommy is getting them done also) Just be careful that she doesn't eat the nail polish off. Another option is cloth medical tape (band aids pull off to easily and can be a chocking hazard) Put a little tape on the end of each finger (the way you would apply a band aid) It will help soothe sore fingers and make them less sensitive and also not let her get to her nails to bite them.

She might also be getting her molars and want to chew on something. Try giving her some crunchy snacks that will help with the teething like pretzel rods or biter biscuits. If it is teething ice pops might help also. My daughter did this at that age also and it was because she was getting her molars in. Just be careful she doesn't start putting small toys in her mouth again trying to soothe her gums. Good Luck
clip them down as far as they will go.

thats what my dad did to me. and i quit.
I'd ask your dr what he thinks about the bite no more nail polish. I bite my nails when i get really nervous even as an adult (not to where they bleed tho of course) But i wish i could have nixed this habit earlier. I would watch her to see if perhaps she has anxiety or not. The two tend to go together.

I got green spot on one of my finger nails, what can itr be and how do I get of it?

I put acrylics nails some times.I got green spot on one of my finger nails, what can itr be and how do I get of it?
Sometimes when you don't get your nails filled in time then water can rest between the acrylic and the nail plate and can cause fungus. I would go to your doctor asap.I got green spot on one of my finger nails, what can itr be and how do I get of it?
probably it is fungus. Get tea tree oil and put that on the fungus while you wait for a dr appointment.

How do u paint zebra stripes on your finger nails?

when you paint your nails at home and you want to add details like zebra stripes, how do u paint them on?How do u paint zebra stripes on your finger nails?
i have no experience in painting nails but something that might work would be cut thin pieces of paper tape and stick them to your nail like stripes. Paint over your whole nail and pull of the tape. The parts of your nails that were covered should not be affected and now you have your striped nails.

ps: i would let a little extra tape hang off your nail for each piece of tape you use so that you can easily pull it off after painted.

  • Does any one know a product that really works to keep finger nails from splitting, peeling and braking?

Mine are very thin and brittle.I've had acrilic nails but they are very practical.Does any one know a product that really works to keep finger nails from splitting, peeling and braking?
I think rubbing in vitamin e oil helps or almond oil - try it!

Better than than expensive commercial remedies :-)Does any one know a product that really works to keep finger nails from splitting, peeling and braking?
clove oil always did the trick for me... I think it's easy to find in good health food stores and not very expensive. Also when I began to take vitamin c everyday my nails got much stronger.
