What are the white marks on your finger nails sometimes?

Um, okay i have this white mark on my fingernail..and i just wanna knw what it is.What are the white marks on your finger nails sometimes?
its a bruise. What are the white marks on your finger nails sometimes?
If you notice white spots, also known as leukonychia, on your nails, they are unlikely to have been caused by a vitamin or mineral deficiency. In a few cases, white spots on fingernails can indicate an underlying infection, but much more commonly they are the result of injury. Similar to bruising, white spots on fingernails do not show up immediately. It may take several days or weeks before you notice the spots. Because they are generally the result of a minor injury, you are likely to have forgotten all about banging your fingernail against something.

Lol, the whole calcium thing is a old wives tale.

It's actually caused by hitting your nail against something when the new cells are forming, like slamming it in a drawer or something. The spots don't come up until a week or so after you hurt it.

calcium deposits, nothing to worry about, if your self concious, slow down on the high calcium beverages and foods like milk for example or paint over it with nail polish, i used to have them too, but mine went away after a few months
I think it's a bruise or it indicates you are lacking some nutrient.
Its calcium..
