When people are dead, why do their finger nails still grow?

I just don't understand, I was thinking maybe it doesn't need the blood to grow or something I don't know. I mean they're dead how can it still grow? Also, does their hair still grow, and if it does, why? When people are dead, why do their finger nails still grow?
Nothing on your body grows after you die. After death skin dehydrates and shrinks up - think beef jerky or raisins - and anything that protrudes from that skin would appear to be longer even though it's not changed size. When people are dead, why do their finger nails still grow?

the nails don't grow any more once you're dead. However, sometimes the cuticles retract and shrivel some, so the nails look longer.

Hair doesn't grow any more either.
