What are those little white dots that you can get on your finger nails?

What exactly are they, how do you get them and can you make them go away. Im not concerned about it as I know its normal. I would like to know as im genuinly interested. What are those little white dots that you can get on your finger nails?
White spots on your fingernails are due to a deficiency of Zinc, not Calcium!! By eating more foods rich in Zinc you will get rid of the White spots on your fingernails, help restore loss of taste, accelerate healing time for internal and external wounds, promote growth and mental alertness, aid in the treatment of mental disorders and help reduce length and severity of colds.

Zinc is also important for blood stability (keeps the proper concentration of vitamin E in the blood) and in maintaining the body's acid-alkaline balance.

Excessive sweating can cause a loss of as much as 3mg of zinc per day. Most zinc in foods is lost in processing, or never exists in substantial amounts because of nutrient-poor soil.

Best Natural Sources -- Meat, liver, seafood (especially oysters), wheat germ, brewer's yeast, pumpkin seeds, eggs and nonfat dry milk.

Probably your best bet is to go get a really good quality multivitamin supplement. Zinc is also available in combination with vitamin C, magnesium, and the B-complex vitamins. These are the ones I take, Berocca make them in the fizzy tablets. Easier to digest!!............:0)

PEACEWhat are those little white dots that you can get on your finger nails?
calcium spots

They are bruises, and I don't think there is anything you can do about them.
i think they are caused due to calcium deficiency
Leuconychia- this is the technical nail disorder term. These white spots are really nothing. They are usually a sign of air trapped under the nail bed which is cause from trama or injury. If you smash your finger or hit it off something a little white line or spot will appear. It will go away as your nail grows!
It means you dont get enough calcium.

Perhaps drink more milk? Thats high in calcium.
White spots on the fingernails are caused by small dents inside the fingernail.... If something hits your nail it can dent the tissue underneath(nail bed),.. A small area then gets retracted from the nail...This is what causes the white dots!
these dots r due to calcium defeciency.take calcium tablets .they will be cured.
