Why do I have pits on my finger nails?

In the past few months I've noticed little pits on my finger nails. First it seemed like a lot on my left thumb... now there's less on my left thumb, but there's a few on my right thumb, and a lot on both my left pointer and left pinky. I haven't seen any pits on my other fingers.

I've read online that it could be caused by psoriasis, but I have no other symptoms of that. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be caused by? Should I be worried? Why do I have pits on my finger nails?
nail pitting can sometimes be caused by a vitamin deficiency. Do you take daily multi-vitamins? You might want to start. Why do I have pits on my finger nails?
Hi Zzilly 14,

It's really funny you say that it started on your left thumb, then your right, and then your pinky, because that is exactly how it happened to me. I still haven't gotten an answer as to why, however, I did learn that lack of zinc can also have such effects.

Good luck.
